Art of Healthy Living Advent Calendar – Day 17

It’s the weekend, so today we’re treating you to some much needed time out – it’s your chance to let everyone else cope without you for a while!

I don’t know about you, but I feel like I’m constantly juggling the various balls of my life and it worries me that unless I take a break every now and again, those balls are going to come crashing down. Don’t get me wrong, I’m pretty good at multi-tasking – I can cook dinner, whilst helping the kids with their homework, mentally planning my next blog post, cleaning the car, mowing the lawn, painting my nails and exercising all at the same time – well OK I’m not THAT good. But my point is that a lot is expected of us and 9 times out of 10 it’s actually ourselves that set these high expectations.

So, Door 17 of our advent calendar is ordering YOU, yes you reading this, to switch off from it all to help restore mental clarity, reset your system and basically get you back up to optimum working capacity again.

Decide what taking time out means to you; it could be:

  • Going for a walk – fresh air is fab at blowing away the cobwebs.
  • Buying a new book and then going to your favourite coffee shop to read it.
  • Taking a candlelit bath – remember to lock the door!
  • Go to a yoga, Pilates or meditation class.
  • Visit the beauty salon and have a massage, facial or pedicure.

Whatever you decide, it needs to be about you.

But maybe just leave a note for the hubby with a list of things that need doing when you’re gone…I mean, you don’t want to return to chaos, do you?!

Remember to check back tomorrow to see what’s behind door 18 of the Art of Healthy Living Advent Calendar.
