I’m pretty sure all of us, if we were to be completely honest with ourselves, could do with lowering our sugar intake just a teeny, tiny amount. I’m a devil for it myself, so if there’s anything I can do to trick my mind into believing I’m still getting a treat, but I’ve craftily replaced some of the bad stuff with a nice big helping of good stuff then I know I am onto a good thing.
These flapjacks rely purely on the sweetness of the hemp milk and chocolate peanut butter (the brand I use contains honey as a sweetening agent, so it’s all good I promise!) and yes of course they don’t taste as sickly sweet as your standard syrupy flapjack, but they certainly don’t disappoint.
The hemp seeds are also packed to the rafters with omega 3, good fats, protein and amino acids, so sprinkle away my friends and give yourself a good old pat on the back as you opt for one of these with your morning coffee instead of raiding the biscuit tin!
What’s In My Chocolate Peanut Butter Hemp Seed Flapjacks?
- 250ml Sweetened Hemp Milk
- 200g Chocolate Peanut Butter
- 200g Oats
- 100g Dark Chocolate
- 80g Hemp Seeds
How Do I Make Chocolate Peanut Butter Hemp Seed Flapjacks?
Place the hemp milk and chocolate peanut butter in a saucepan and stir over a low heat until they have combined and you are left with a thick sauce.
Remove from the heat and stir in 50g of hemp seeds and all of the oats.
Spoon the mixture into an individual flapjack tin and bake in a moderate oven for 20 minutes.
Once cooked, leave the chocolate butter hemp seed flapjacks to cool in the tin and melt the dark chocolate in a bowl over a pan of boiling water. Drizzle the melted chocolate over the top of the flapjacks and sprinkle with the remaining hemp seeds.
