Creating a Morning Routine That Works Best For You

Some people wake up very early in the morning. Others would rather sleep in and start the day a little bit later. Whether you are an early bird or a night owl, it is important to have a good morning routine in place. With a good routine, your days will be more productive and you will feel less stressed.

Consider the following tips for creating an early morning routine that works best for you.

Determine Your Bedtime And Your Wake Up Time

You don’t have to wake up very early for you to have a good morning routine, but you should at least wake up at the same time each day. In order for you to maintain consistency in your wake up times, you should go to bed around the same time too. Allow for seven to nine hours between your bedtime and the time you wake up. When you do this, it will be easier to plan your days and maintain a schedule.

Plan Before

To avoid making too many decisions in the morning, plan ahead of time. Decide on your breakfast menu the day before. Before you go to sleep, choose the clothes you and your kids will wear the next day. Make a to-do list indicating the time frame for each task. Prepare all the resources you need to get the work done. Planning ahead can make your mornings run much smoother. Thus, consider doing it every day before bedtime.

Have A Good Breakfast

A good breakfast energizes and nourishes your body, getting it ready for the day’s activities. As stated above, consider planning your breakfast menu the night before so you won’t have to make a lot of decisions in the morning and maybe skip breakfast altogether. A good breakfast means different things to different people. What is ideal for one, may not be ideal for someone else. If you don’t already have a breakfast menu that you love, consider trying out a couple of different drinks and dishes. You can try fruits, nuts, dairy, whole grains, eggs, green smoothies, coffee and tea among others.

During your free time, browse through the internet and discover fun menus that can make your mornings better. Learn the art of making a good breakfast and the best products to use. Also, learn about the best kitchen appliances and how to use them. When making coffee, for example, you can purchase a Nespresso machine and accompanying pods. If the Nespresso pods are too expensive, you can find cheaper versions and they won’t damage any of these machines.

Pre-Work Activity

Other than your breakfast, choose another activity that you can do before you start your actual work for the day. It could be something that gives you motivation, sets the pace for your day, fully awakens your brain, and gets your body and brain ready. Examples include exercising, reading a book, listening to a podcast, meditating and taking a shower.

Get To Work

What do you prefer to work on first thing in the morning? Make sure you highlight this on your to-do list and follow through with your plan. Just like with breakfast, it may take a few experiments before you figure out your ideal work schedule. When you finally get to work, stay focused and get rid of distractions. This could mean turning off notifications, working in a quiet room, and avoiding unnecessary breaks.

Morning routines can be as simple as that. You just have to plan them well and you will have a good morning, whether or not you are a morning person.

It’s awfully hard for me to get up in the morning. Until 9-10 a.m., I’m just like on autopilot, unable to think and act. And if I get up before 7:00 or 8:00, I get tired and want to sleep early in the evening. I can’t do anything about it, it must be a special feature of my organism.
My ideal morning routine is 8 a.m. wake up, morning workout, breakfast, and shower.
