Five Signs You Are Under Stress

No one likes to feel under the weather, whether it’s physically or mentally. Stress is something that many of us experience from time to time, and it can be unsettling. Continue reading for five signs that you might be under stress and discover some of the possible ways to combat it.

Struggling To Sleep

The worst of times can prevent us from sleeping efficiently. It may be easy to fall asleep, but the quality perhaps isn’t up to scratch. Alternatively, it may take you an unfeasibly long time to drift off, meaning the amount of sleep you actually get is nowhere near enough. There are many ways in which you can struggle to sleep, and all of them can be indicators that you are under a great deal of stress. Try to establish a routine when it comes to bedtime, similar to that of a young child actually. Regardless of the day of the week, head upstairs at the same time and set an alarm for the same time each day too. Being overstimulated can prevent your mind from switching off, so stop watching TV too late and definitely put your phone away.

Regular Headaches

Tension headaches are commonplace and a definite sign that you are struggling to cope with the pressure in your life. Try to make sure that you drink plenty of water and always set aside time for yourself. This could be to exercise on a regular basis or even just relaxing with a book. Ensuring that your whole life does not revolve around the thing causing you the most stress is essential. Natural remedies could also help, so check out the best essential oils for headaches which could relieve the pain.

Loss Of Appetite

They say that when you stop feeling able to eat properly, you are either in love or you are feeling overwhelmed. More often than not, it is the latter. The mind has a funny way of doing things, and stressful times can often equate to losing your appetite. If this is the case for you, try smaller portions and eat little and often. Food is imperative for your health, so always make sure that you put some fuel inside your body. Even if you only manage to eat a few crackers, add some cheese, for example, to add calories and fat.

Difficulty Concentrating

When you have a lot on your mind, it can be challenging to focus on what you really need to. Concentration is important and can even mean life or death, when driving, for example. If you are having significant difficulties concentrating, always keep a notebook and pen with you to ensure you can write notes about whatever you are doing or expected to do. Try to avoid having more than one task on the go at the same time; this is a recipe for disaster when your mind isn’t as sharp as it usually is.

Sweating

Sweating can be a side effect of stress. With it comes more anxiety about your appearance and whether or not your perspiration is noticeable or smelly. To combat this, always wear a decent antiperspirant deodorant and be sure to wash regularly. Sweat only really smells when it is stale, so avoid putting on clothes that have already been worn.

Of course, as with all medical problems, if they persist, do seek help from a professional.
