Five Ways To Avoid The Common Cold This Winter

We may have been living in a pandemic for the last 18 months, but the common cold is still doing the rounds. However, we do know that viruses are a lot easier to evade than we originally thought. Here are some ideas of how we can avoid the common cold this winter.

Facemasks

It won’t be long before wearing a facemask in public is a thing of the past. Or will it? A lot of people discovered last year, the steps that had been put in place had stopped them from catching a cold. In parts of Asia, it is expected that people will wear face-covering like ones from https://lanyardsfactory.com.au/kn95-style-face-masks during cold and flu season to help prevent the spread of disease. And it looks like something we will adopt in the rest of the world.

Washing Our Hands

Who else was shocked and rather embarrassed that they were not washing their hands properly? Keeping our hands clean is one of the best ways we can protect ourselves from all sorts of nasty germs. Now, washing your hands once an hour doesn’t seem that strange anymore. And it is not just hand washing, hand sanitiser, while you are out and about, has become a handbag essential.

Taking Our Vitamins

Our diets and exercise came under attack when we went into lockdown, but we can all agree that those daily walks did wonders for our mental health. This improvement helped us to look after ourselves better, and a lot of people discovered how to take better care of themselves. From home-cooked meals (packed with vitamins) to taking actual vitamins. Making sure your body is getting what it needs is one of the best ways to keep your immune system in top form.

Avoiding People

OK, we are being a bit cheeky, but keeping our distance from other people has proved to be useful in the spread of germs. We have to ask ourselves, was there any reason for people to be standing that close in the shop queues? Probably not, and we know a lot of ladies who are happy for the breathing room in public places. We are not sure if the general public will continue to do distance but it is worth a shot. Otherwise, you can tailor your outside activities to when there won’t be as many people about.

Regular Cleaning

If there is one thing that is certain about the common cold, it can live on surfaces for ages. This is why when people sneeze in their hands, we have to make sure that anywhere they touch has been cleaned. This might seem like overkill but it is worth it to avoid having a snotty nose. Regular wiping of door handles and handrails can make a difference in your overall health. You don’t need to grab a bucket of water every time, an antibacterial wipe is a great way to ensure that the surfaces of your home are germ-free. Plus, you can get biodegradable wipes that you can throw in the compost pile too.
