Is Raw CBD Honey Better For You Than Regular Honey?

If there was one wellness trend that stood out above all others in 2019, it was CBD oil. The wellness world went completely crazy for it and as such a whole new market was born. Despite the market for CBD oil still proving as popular as ever what with ever growing research on the health benefits it can bring, brands are looking for ways to stand out from the CBD crowd by incorporating CBD into their products in a more innovative way.

Nowadays, there’s cannabis honey, CBD coffee, CBD oil infused face masks and bath bombs, CBD sweets and chocolate, and you can even get CBD products for your pet. It is literally everywhere!

In this article we’re going to take a look at raw CBD honey to discover what extra health benefits adding CBD to raw honey can give us and whether it’s really worth choosing this over a regular jar of honey.

What Is Raw Honey?

Before we answer the question of what raw CBD honey is we perhaps need to firstly look at what raw honey is. Put simply, raw honey is honey in its most natural state i.e. as it is in the hive. Honey is extracted from honeycombs in the hive and is then sieved to remove any beeswax or other impurities and poured into glass jars.

All honey starts off as raw honey. Honey that isn’t labelled as raw, will have been pasteurized to help give it a longer shelf life and to give it a smoother consistency, and will have been subjected to intense filtration to make the honey stay clearer for longer and to get rid of air bubbles. These processes, especially pasteurization as it uses heat, destroys some of the essential nutrients contained within the honey, so that what you eventually receive is nowhere near as beneficial for you

What Is Raw CBD Honey?

So now we know more about raw honey, let’s take a look at what raw CBD honey is all about. As I’m sure you can probably guess, well the clue’s in the name after all, raw CBD honey is raw honey that has been infused with CBD extract. Natural honey is already packed full of antioxidants, as well as various amino acids and vitamins, plus it also has antibacterial and antifungal properties. So to say it’s good for you, is an understatement. Throw some CBD into the mix and you’ve basically got a mega boosted superfood right there.

People are a lot better educated about CBD these days, although its obvious connection to the class B drug does still carry concern for some people. So let’s clear that up. CBD, or cannabidiol to give it its full name, does come from the cannabis plant, but what distinguishes it is that most importantly it is legal, and the reason being is that it doesn’t contain THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol) which is the psychoactive element of the plant – the part that gives the ‘high’. CBD is a cannabinoid, and in fact the cannabis plant contains over 100 different types of cannabinoid, of which THC is also one.

We all have an endocannabinoid system in our bodies, which is a molecular system responsible for regulating and balancing certain bodily processes, such as metabolism, memory, immune response, communication between cells, the secretion of hormones, to name but a few. It is believed that CBD works alongside this system, helping the processes to run more efficiently, more smoothly if you like.

So why honey? Why when there are so many other products on the market, should we think about using CBD honey? Well, that’s a good question, because according to ancient Ayurvedic tradition, honey is one of the most easily digested forms of carbohydrates. And if we want to experience all those lovely health giving benefits that CBD can potentially give us, we need it to enter the blood stream as quickly as possible… cue the fast transporting nature of honey!

The Health Benefits Of Raw CBD Honey

As I’ve already mentioned, raw honey has a lot of fantastic health benefits in its own right, but what extra can we expect from raw CBD honey?

People who use CBD do so because it helps with:

  • Migraines
  • Anxiety and Depression
  • PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder)
  • Insomnia
  • Chronic Pain Relief
  • IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome)
  • Heart Disease
  • Reduce Inflammation
  • Menopause Symptoms

And this is just a few. If you think about how many processes the endocannabinoid system deals with and how if CBD can help with every single on of these, then the health benefits are indeed truly remarkable.

With the CBD market continuing to grow, it is understandable that as a consumer it could seem somewhat confusing and daunting knowing which product to choose. For me personally, I think it’s important to choose a product that can fit seamlessly into your lifestyle. It is far easier to incorporate a raw CBD honey into your day if you already use honey as a staple ingredient than it is to remember to take a pill. With all of these things it is important to do your research and if you have any concerns at all, always talk to your GP before making any drastic changes to your diet. However, in answer to the question – is raw CBD honey better for you than regular honey? – I think we are all in agreement that yes, yes it is.
