We’re going to keep this post short and sweet, because soon, in the words of John Denver, we’re:
“leaving on a jet plane, don’t know when I’ll be back again”
(well actually we do, it’s in a fortnight, but hey minor detail!)
It’s time for the Art of Healthy Living offices to shut its doors for the summer and head off on a well deserved holiday, away from regular routine, away from TV screens, away from work and away from social media.
Yep, you heard me right…away from social media!!
Many of us have, to varying degrees, a bit of a social media addiction, whether it’s feeling the need to check what your friends are up to on Snapchat, checking out what your Insta friends have eaten that day, or catching up on all the latest tweets, we all have that inner voyeuristic tendency to want to sneak-a-peek into other people’s lives. And, to be honest, in most instances it’s completely harmless, but everyone needs a digital detox from time to time, which is why when we go on holiday our phones stay off!
Going on holiday makes you realise the importance of living in the moment, of paying attention to the details of your new surroundings and being mindful of each and every one of your senses. From the taste of new cuisine, the smell of the salty air, the feel of the sunshine on your skin (great Vitamin D boost, but remember the SPF peeps!), the sound of the waves crashing against the shore and the sight of your beautiful, happy family enjoying life.
Who needs to log onto Facebook and see how far your mate has run that morning, when you’ve got all that in front of you?!
So, you won’t see much from us in the next fortnight.
We’ve got a few posts scheduled in to publish on our site, so remember to head on over there to check those out, but you won’t see us on our social pages until we return.
And then I’m afraid you’ll have to put up with us showing off our holiday snaps, because well, showing off is what social media is all about, right? 😉
