My Teenage Diary Series – July 10th 1995

Dear Teenage Diary,

I’ve got back from Corfu after having a really good time. The best holiday EVER. Only to be told that last Thursday there was a car crash. Harriet Minton flew out the back and died instantly, her funeral was Thursday. Shelley Higson was in a drug induced coma but now she’s out of it, but she’s got a pin in her leg. Percy and Raymond escaped with minor injuries but Kenneth, who was driving, has suffered serious head injuries. He was on the critical list but not any more. He’s still in a bad way though. Half his face is crushed and he will need plastic surgery. Also he thinks he’s 16 and he’s just finished his exams. It came as such a shock to me. I mean I guess I was still going out with him and I was hoping things would get better when I got back from Corfu. I don’t know what to do any more. My life feels shattered. I don’t know whether I could face seeing him and whether he’d want to see me is another thing, I thought my life was finally settling down, then this happens.

I can’t help thinking that maybe if I hadn’t gone on holiday he might have been with me instead of them and it wouldn’t have happened.
