Pecan Pie Popcorn Smoothie Recipe

Pecan Pie smoothie in a mason jar mug topped with popcorn and a red and white striped straw

I blinkin’ loves me a smoothie I do, but you can’t go whacking anything in willy nilly and expect it all to come good, because it just doesn’t work like that. Knowing what flavours go together is an acquired skill and thankfully one that comes relatively naturally to me. And whilst I’m all for a bit of experimentation in the kitchen, sometimes you just gotta go with the classic combinations that you know will work.

Pecan pie is one of them flavours. Combine it with popcorn, nut butter and the standard smoothie ingredients of milk, banana and natural yogurt and you are proper onto a winner!

I have used Pecan Pie popcorn from Popcorn Shed as the inspiration for this smoothie recipe and so it seems only fair that it gets crowning glory. As for nut butter… how could I resist dolloping a huge tablespoon of the delicious Maple Pecan nut butter from Hungry Squirrel!?!?! I may have also accidentally dunked my fingers in the jar once or twice too… 😉

Literally a match made in heaven and I promise you this smoothie recipe will be one you will wanna make over and over again.

Have a go and let me know what you think.

What’s In It?

  • 200ml Semi Skimmed Milk
  • 2 tbsp Natural Yogurt
  • 1 tbsp Maple Pecan Nut Butter
  • 1 Banana
  • Popcorn to top

How Do I Make It?

Break an overripe banana (they’re a lot tastier when they’re past their best and it helps to naturally sweeten the smoothie) into pieces and place it in a blender you use for smoothies.

Spoon in the natural yogurt and nut butter and then pour the milk over the top.

Blend until smooth and frothy.

Pour into a glass so that the smoothie comes right up to the top and sprinkle with as much popcorn as you can cram on there!

TOP TIP – I always use semi skimmed milk and full fat natural yogurt in my smoothies to ensure it has a rich and creamy taste and as many nutrients as possible. This makes a fab post workout fuel up, as milk is the best drink you can hydrate with – just read my article if you don’t believe me…. ‘Why You Should Drink Milk After Exercise‘.
