Resolutions for 2016 #14

In 2016 we will…

Give something back.

Remember the classic saying, ‘it’s better to give than to receive’? Well, now is the perfect time to start thinking about giving and we’re not just talking material objects.

With Christmas less than 6 weeks away, it’s easy to get caught up in the frantic mass consumerism, but what is far, far more important than giving presents is giving someone your time and company.

Whether you decide to volunteer at your local old people’s home, collect and deliver items for food banks or simply phone a relative or friend who you haven’t spoken to in ages. Giving something back not only makes the recipient feel special, but it has the added benefit of doing wonders for your health. Studies have shown that people who volunteer or actively take part in charity work have significantly lower levels of stress, are happier, healthier and have an increased sense of wellbeing.

Do yourself and others a huge favour this Christmas by searching for volunteering opportunities in your community. For more information go to www.volunteering.org.uk.
