Second Wave: Can We All Stay Healthy Indoors?

We are all aware that a second COVID wave is likely to come. Unfortunately, we can’t count on a COVID-19 vaccine to become available before then. The good news, however, is that we know exactly how to stay safe. Wash your hands, keep your facial covering on in closed and crowded environments, and stay at home as much as possible. Most businesses have been able to establish remote working structures for their team, so we have a fallback option.

The bad news is that staying healthy means maintaining a regular level of activities. When gyms are closed – they are likely to shut down in the event of a second wave –, staying on top of your sports routine can be tricky. Here are some ideas to prepare for the next pandemic wave. Think of it this way: it appears to be unavoidable, therefore being prepared is no fatalism, but the only way to make it go away faster!

Keeping Pets Active Indoors, How Does That Work?

We haven’t thought about our pets much during the first wave. Dog owners walked their pets every day, as they always do. But your pets need a lot of activity during the day. Therefore, keeping them fit at home can also make the mandatory walk for dogs more manageable. Besides, our pets, dogs and cats, can reportedly catch COVID-19. So keeping them at home as much as possible will keep them safe. For dogs and cats, managing the home temperature is essential to their comfort. If the house is too hot or cold, your cat will spend more time outdoors!

Additionally, you can invest in playful accessories, such as a cat tree or a home cat wheel. The cat wheel allows your pet to exercise safely at home. With dogs, you can also find custom wheels for the garden. But a simple solution is to play with your pet in the backyard!

You Don’t Need To Motivate Yourself To Go To The Gym

Most gyms are likely to shut down during the second wave. Even if they stay open, risks are likely to be high. As such, it is a good idea to consider home gym design plans. Creating a studio to exercise can be a smart move for homeowners. It’s a home improvement project that adds a tonne of value if you are thinking of selling in a few years. For fitness enthusiasts, having everything you need at home makes it easier to stay active, even during a potential second lockdown. Of course, we don’t want to consider this eventuality! But, should it happen, you’re ready to maintain your health and your sanity!

Does An Indoor Workout Replace Our Outdoor Time?

The answer is no. You need to soak up some direct sunlight for vitamin D, and that can only happen outdoors. Additionally, exercising in nature has a soothing effect on the mind. In other words, exercising indoors doesn’t mean that you can’t go out for a walk or a run. Indoors and outdoors sports are complementary, not mutually exclusive.

While we hate the idea of a second lockdown, it could be a risk this winter. Therefore, it can be a good idea to look into indoors fitness options for you and your pet. But remember, making the most of your time at home to stay fit doesn’t mean you can’t or shouldn’t go out to recharge your batteries from time to time! Under lockdown, you just need to be cautious of spread and risks!
