Why America Has Become So Obsessed With Wellness

There’s no question that America has become health and wellness obsessed, and that’s not exactly a bad thing. But where did this obsession come from, and what does it mean for our future?

That’s exactly what we’re going to explore in this post.

The Number 1 Reason For America’s Health Obsession

America’s obsession with health was an inevitable transition. We can only move so far in the opposite direction before we start seeing signs that change is necessary. For America, those signs came in the form of chronic disease.

This health obsession came at a time when the fast-food generation began suffering with chronic health issues, and the next generation naturally felt compelled to heed the warnings.

Deceptive Practices Come To Light

In the age of social media, more people are realising that we’re being deceived on many levels. In decades past, we believed the marketing propaganda that showed happy cows grazing in a serene setting. Fast forward to today, and we’ve all learned the truth about factory farms.

These animals are not only being tortured, but they are being pumped with antibiotics and hormones, and they’re fed an unhealthy diet to increase their weight and decrease the corporation’s bottom line.

All of this is at the expense of our health.

There’s no way to sugarcoat the manipulation that we’ve endured, but we’re now aware. And so many people are choosing to turn their backs on the old damaging ways.

How To Join The Wellness Revolution

Regardless of your reasoning, if you want to join this wellness revolution, it’s a great time. Never before has there been so many great resources to help you find and make healthy choices.

And it doesn’t have to be painful. There are simple steps you can take to shift your life towards a healthier path.

Below are just a few of many ideas that can help you follow a path of wellness.

  • Eat organic – Say goodbye to the factory-farmed foods that are so damaging to our planet and our health and opt for organic, ethically grown foods instead. Focus on getting more fruits and veggies into your diet, and if you eat animal products, choose ones that have been raised and cultivated in more favourable conditions than the status quo.
  • Balance your chakras – Chakras are energy centres in the body, and when they’re out of balance, you can be exposed to various levels of disease. It could manifest as actual disease or other types of chaotic energies in your life. There are many ways you can rebalance your chakras. You can use chakra-aligning massage, crystals, or you can try out chakra healing.
  • Start an exercise routine – In order for your body to function as it was meant to, it needs to move. So if you aren’t already exercising, it’s a great time to start an exercise practice. If you aren’t already exercising, you can start with simple aerobic exercises for about 30 minutes a day. Even walking for this time can help you improve your overall health and wellbeing.
  • Meditate – Meditation is a very helpful tool in your wellness toolkit because it can help you become more mindful. This means that you’ll spend more time focused on the present moment instead of worrying about the past or looking forward to the future. Start by setting a timer for five minutes and sit in a quiet space. Set a focal point and simply sit quietly. As thoughts emerge (and they will) acknowledge them but don’t follow them. This isn’t a pass or fail situation. It’s a practice, and you’ll find it gets easier as you invest more time on it.

As you follow this path, remember that wellness is a journey. If you make poor choices one day, don’t beat yourself up over it. Instead, just make better choices the next day. There’s no pressure to be perfect.

The important part about this journey is that you invest in yourself. Know that you are worth it. Your body deserves the best fuel and your mind and emotional wellbeing also deserve your attention.

By practicing wellness, you will also begin a journey of self-love that will lead you closer to living your best life.
