I have always loved writing. Like literally as way I have always loved writing. Like literally as way back as I can remember I was writing stories and creating books about my pets, or penning teenage angst poems. It's just in me.
.
.
And one of my dreams was to own a typewriter. So imagine my sheer joy and absolute shock at unwrapping this beauty on Christmas day. Honestly I was so overwhelmed it made me cry. My dream of a husband had picked up on something I'd mentioned recently and then set about finding one. Shipped over from America, a reconditioned 1950s typewriter all of my very own. It still makes me feel totally emotional thinking about it now. It is hands down the BEST gift I have ever received. Finally my wish came true.#myhusbandisbetterthanyours
.
.
So now I need to decide where to put it... and also what to write on it. I feel almost too scared to use it in case the words I type on it doesn't do it any justice. But then I also know it would be an absolute crime not to use it.
.
.
I'll leave you with this extract from my 1992 diary, "I'm writing stories so that when I get my typewriter I can type them up and send them off." Maybe there's a book in me yet....
It's one of them 'meh' days. They catch you out fr It's one of them 'meh' days. They catch you out from time to time don't they 🤷‍♀️ And the worst of it is you don't see them coming. There you are minding your own business, riding on the crest of a happy positive wave when all of a sudden CRASH.... tsunami 🌊
.
.
That's me, today. Or it was. Because I've just done something in the shower that I've never done before (nooooo not THAT you filthy minded bunch! 😜) that touch wood seems to have shifted my mood and got me right back on track.
.
.
Honestly it's so simple and I'm not even sure what made me think of it, but it has actually worked. All I did was stand under the shower, closed my eyes and concentrated on the water running over me washing away any negativity. Like all that self doubt and self criticism was washing off and going down the plughole.
.
.
And I get that it sounds totally bonkers, proper hippy la la stuff, but I cannot tell you how much better it has made me feel. Like proper decent.
.
.
So I'm totally going with it, whatever works right?
.
.
I'm thinking of writing a blogpost about the small ways we can help ourselves drown out the inner critic and give ourselves a bit of mental peace and so I would love to know any little bits of advice or small practices you do to achieve this. Please let me know in the comments as it would be great to share this with others cos as we all know #sharingiscaring
Hey there lovelies, thought I'd take a little brea Hey there lovelies, thought I'd take a little break from work to come on here and show you how I've been swanning around the house today. Not bad eh? Scrub up relatively OK when I put a bit of effort in 💁‍♀️
.
.
I've had a bit of a revelation of late... it might have been when I straightened my hair the other day and it made me feel like proper me again. It was as if a light bulb went off in my head - that by doing these small things for myself it shows I care about me. And that's HUGE. Cos all too often we are way down the priority list. We spread our care out to all those around us and yet we don't save any for ourselves. No wonder we feel so shit.
.
.
So I tested the theory out, I washed and straightened my hair, I put on my fave perfume, bunged on some body lotion, and put on a fancy schmancy dress. And guess what? Yep, as if by magic I feel like a million dollars. Because I cared for ME. And it dawned on me that by caring, I have shown myself respect. I've shown myself that I matter, that I deserve to be cared for too, and I tell you what it doesn't half pump up the positivity levels - I am totally feeling like I can handle the world right now - covid schmovid 🤷‍♀️
.
.
I know I keep banging on about it recently, but it's because I want you lovely lot to feel like this too. It doesn't need to be anything major, just something small like maybe putting on a favourite necklace, or perhaps a bit of mascara, whatever the thing is that makes you feel like you. #youmattertoo
.
.
And of course furry chops had to get in on it 🤣
Don't mind me, I'm just lying here splatto after a Don't mind me, I'm just lying here splatto after a workout - oh yeah 3 in one week #winningatlife 🥇

Dragged the girl out on a dog walk before homeschool this morning, then blasted this sweaty beaut out and now enjoying 5 mins of music with my eyes shut on the kitchen floor BLISS!
.
.
I've realised that if I take this time in the morning, even if it means not starting work until gone 10, I'm way more productive and infinitely less stressed. Our normal routines have well and truly been fucked up so its all about trying to create new ones. And let's face it, it's 100% trial and error - what might work one day, could go full on tits up the next, but for now this is working.
.
.
Most importantly remember to try and carve out some time for yourself at some point in the day. Even it means locking yourself away in the bathroom and pretending you've got a stuck poo, do it! It's so, so important and it's the only way we'll navigate our way through these rough waters. 🌊
I think New Year's resolutions are a crock of 💩 I think New Year's resolutions are a crock of 💩 and so I thought I'd go on a little journey to find out what bright spark came up with them in the first place 💡
.
.
My latest #blogpost (link in bio if you fancy a read) talks about this as well as discovering which are the most common #resolutions why we find them so hard to stick to and what I've got against them so much.
.
.
Change comes when you are ready, not when January swings around and certainly not because so and so fitness bod tells you you should, or because slimming Sarah (apologies if you are called Sarah and you are currently slimming, it just went together - no personal digs intended K? 🤷‍♀️) makes you feel guilty for polishing off the half empty packet of After Eights. You are in charge of you. You, and only YOU, know what's right and when.
.
.
Don't let social media convince you otherwise. Remember most of the time what you're seeing is a snapshot, a filtered glossy set up snapshot of someone's life. And if it makes you feel in any way bad about yourself then do yourself a favour and unfollow them. Hey if I make you feel that way, which I really hope I don't cos I like to think I share the good with the bad (if anything I might share a bit too much bad 🙈) then please unfollow me. I won't hold it against you I promise. I just want YOU to be happy.
.
.
I workout and run because I enjoy it, because it makes me feel good about myself and because it gives me some much needed mental clarity. I don't do it because I want to shift the Xmas pounds, or because I want to 'get fit fast'. It is my thing, my thing that gives me some sanity in these crazy times we find ourselves in. So no, resolutions are 100% not for me, because that would be admitting there's something wrong with me in the first place. And you know what.... I think I'm pretty fucking awesome as I am thank you very much 😎
.
.
Remember, link in bio, chuck it a read if ya can cos it's how I carry on doing what I'm doing by you lot reading my stuff. And let me know how you feel about resolutions, have you made any, would you usually but have decided this year is shite enough as it is, anything at all, I would love to know your thoughts!
Some people love looking at other people's food so Some people love looking at other people's food so here you go, here's my #dinner tonight. If you're not one of those people then probs best if you move along 😛
