Had an absolute blast on our date for June learnin Had an absolute blast on our date for June learning some #pottery skills with @justinejennerpottery I've wanted to have a go on a wheel for ages. I remember having them at school but we were never allowed to use them, so it became this big thing for me that at some point I needed to have a go. And I LOVED it. Just something so mindfully relaxing and mesmerising about watching a lump of clay spin on a wheel and transform from something shapeless into something resembling a bowl 🤣 To give myself some credit, I was pretty impressed with what I produced, and I can't wait to see how they come out in a few weeks time once they've been baked and glazed 🎉 We're a bit behind with the whole #12monthsofdates thing but the hubby's told me there are plans afoot to catch up, so we shall see.
When your mum plans your work experience day from When your mum plans your work experience day from home 🤩🤪 So yeah, tomorrow is take your kid to work day for my son. It's got my back up a bit, not gonna lie, cos for us work from home bods it ain't exactly easy, plus I know for a fact my son doesn't want to do the work we do. Anyway, that's by the by I'm not gonna turn this into a rant about the education system (again!) He thinks he's basically got a day off. A lovely lie in, stay in slobs all day, do the 20 minute virtual thing the school's set up, then sit around on his xbox or watch Netflix, occasionally surfacing for pizza wraps or noodles. I on the other hand have got this lovely little lot of jobs all ready for him: 1) Dog run/workout 2) Practice packing DofE bag 3) School thing 4) Wash car 5) Clean and tidy room 6) List items to sell Hours - same as schol day Pay - minimal, aka none, aka 'experience Job roles covered - admin, cleaner, personal trainer, packer, seller, manual labour. Complaints to be made in written form to either mum or dad. Alternatively, you could go into school and do the virtual thing there. "A day of different tasks for you to enjoy" Let's see how that goes down 🤣🤪 #workexperience #parenting #beatthesystem

This was a snapshot. A very brief moment captured in time. For the rest of the 45 minutes it took to walk up and down the hill it was moan central. My legs ache. I'm itchy. My feet hurt. You're walking too fast. Wait for me. Mum stop it. I need the toilet..... and that was just me 😜🤣 No, but seriously, a reminder. A reminder that what we see on here, for the most part ain't real. It's little snapshots of a moment, but not the bigger picture. So don't let yourself get sucked into the #fomo and the comparison and the negative emotions that can sometimes spring up from seeing happy, happy, happy all the time. If you check out the second picture, you'll see the views were just as good, but the mood perhaps less so 🙈 I opted to stay smiley and go with the let's just wind her up a bit more thing cos well, us mums need some small pleasures in life don't we! If what you're seeing on social media sparks any kind of negativity in you then there's only one thing for it - unfollow. You are in control of what you see. So don't allow the pictures that other people post to influence your mood for the day #youdoyou
When I woke up one morning about 3 years ago absol When I woke up one morning about 3 years ago absolutely drenched in sweat, I put it down to the hot weather and didn’t think much more of it. But when this continued night after night, despite the weather cooling down, I realised something else was going on. Turns out, that what I was experiencing were night sweats and they were my very unwelcome introduction to the #perimenopause. My latest post (link in bio) talks about my journey into the perimenopause and I discover the awesome @dagsmejan_sleepwear range of cooling #sleepwear that is quite literally a dream come true for hot, sweaty, flushed, menopausal women like me 🥵 HRT is now taking the edge off, however I am also making lifestyle tweaks to polish off the rough edges. I am now caffeine free, I take a daily supplement, and the nights I wear my gorgeously soft and lightweight Dagsmejan #sleep playsuit I am also now having a much more comfortable night's sleep. TIME OUT . I've been a bit quiet on here recently. TIME OUT . I've been a bit quiet on here recently. It's been 100% deliberate. You see I've been having a bit of a wobble. Frustrating AF not gonna lie cos I was totally convinced the #HRT was doing its thing and now I'm not so sure 🤔 . For the past 2 weeks I've woken up with a nauseous feeling (I'm not preggers before you ask!) deep in the pit of my stomach, a knotty, twisting, horrible anxious feeling that I know so well. And it hangs around until about lunchtime, then starts to ebb away, every now and again rising up, depending on what I'm doing or who I'm seeing. . My tactic of how to deal with it has been to stay off of social media, to do a @calm meditation session every day, and to just generally stay on the down low a bit, hoping that it will pass. I'm also starting to wonder whether caffeine is playing a part in this - I only ever have 2 cups of coffee a day, and only ever in the morning, but I'm going to switch over to decaf and see if that makes a difference cos it does feel like that sort of jittery feeling you can get. . The nausea was here again this morning, so I made the decision to cancel the group run I'd signed up for this evening, knowing full well I wasn't in the right frame of mind to be social - I find it way too overwhelming when I'm like this. it was an instant relief. . Finding ways to cope seem to be the right thing to do. I've worked outside all day today, with this gorgeous furry boy right by my side, and I tell you what it has done wonders. For now the #anxiety has eased, and a sense of calm has been restored. Amazing what a bit of outdoor fresh air therapy can do, right? . So yeah, sorry if I go quiet again and sorry if you've missed my posts (I mean you may not have even noticed 🤣) I just need a little time out to navigate these bastard #perimenopause waters.
I organised a local #perimenopause walk and talk t I organised a local #perimenopause walk and talk this morning and what a beaut of a day to pick! . I think it's so so important us women talk openly about the #menopause and its many accompanying symptoms. It helps us feel less alone, helps us feel 'normal', helps us feel supported, helps us feel that we're not imagining stuff. It gives a little perspective if you like. . And the good thing about a walk is that you're out getting exercise, you're getting a lovely boost of Vit D and feel good endorphins, and you can have a good non-pressurised chit chat about a subject that could potentially feel a bit awkward. . What a fab bunch of ladies you all are 😍 . Hoping to make this a regular thing, so if you're local to #petersfield it would be great to see you one time. Plus, if that wasn't enough to tempt you, I'll always make sure there's a cuppa and cake stop en route 😜
