An LLC in Georgia that employs a paid caregiver should ensure they comply with state and federal labor laws, obtain necessary licenses and insurance, and properly manage payroll and taxes.

It is designed to help caregivers manage the costs of caring for a loved one. In return, caregivers are compensated with a tax-free stipend.

The SFC program is designed to keep individuals in their homes and avoid nursing home care. Participants who are eligible for the program are provided with a plan of care and ongoing health coaching, along with training and other professional healthcare services.

The SFC program in Georgia is available through the state’s Medicaid Elderly and Disabled Waiver. Before applying for the program, a caregiver must meet certain eligibility requirements. To qualify for the SFC program, a senior or disabled individual must have a functional impairment that will require continued care and must be able to live with a caregiver who is a legally responsible adult.

A family caregiver can be a relative, a spouse, or an unpaid person who lives with the waiver participant. This person must be a Georgia Medicaid-eligible individual who is the primary caretaker of a Medicaid-eligible elderly or disabled individual.

To apply for the program, caregivers must be willing to work in their homes, and they must be related by blood or marriage. However, the caregiver’s spouse or legal guardian is not eligible for compensation.

Care coaches offer practical and emotional support, and they are paid a stipend for their work. Caregivers can connect with their care coach via an app.

I am my daughter’s legal guardian and I would like to know why I cannot be compensated for caregiving. I am not receiving any monies for being her guardian. my daughter suffered a catastrophic stroke in 2021 and needed someone to speak and act in her behalf. she is totally incapacitated and cannot move our speak. I have been her spokesperson and caregiver since she became ill.
