DIY Healthy Makeup Hacks You Should Try

Makeup can be expensive and a little tricky. It’s all too easy to lose a new tube of mascara to clumps. You can also waste money trying to find products you like that match both your skin tone and your expectations. These DIY makeup hacks can help. Not only can you get the effect you want, but you can do it on a dime!

The Magic Of Coconut Oil

Coconut oil has gained popularity in the last few years, but many people still don’t realize how magical it truly is. It’s an excellent moisturizer that can do double duty as a makeup remover. Coconut oil is especially helpful in removing waterproof cosmetics that are notoriously hard to wipe away, such as mascara and liquid eyeliner. Trade your makeup wipes for coconut oil and see if it works for you!

Lush Lashes

Longing for longer, thicker eyelashes? We have a couple of healthy DIY hacks for you. One trick is to dust your lashes very carefully with translucent powder after applying your first coat of mascara. Layer the second layer over the translucent powder for eyelashes that instantly appear fuller and thicker. This trick works with falsies, too.

Speaking of lash care, do you ever find your false eyelashes slipping and sliding over the glue when you try to apply them? This tip should help with the positioning. Rather than immediately affixing your lashes after applying the glue, let the glue dry for 20-30 seconds. You want it to be tacky but not wet. Once it’s reached that stage, you can put on your lashes. They’ll stay put instead of slipping around, and it will take less time for the glue to dry them into place.

Make The Most Of Your Mascara

To take care of your lashes, you need to think about everything you put on them. With frequent use, mascara can thicken, at which point it’s difficult to apply and tends to leave clumps. Nobody wants clumpy lashes! Fortunately, you don’t have to replace your mascara before it’s done. Add a few drops of saline to your tube. In a pinch, hot water will do, as well. Either option will thin out your mascara and make application a breeze. Thoroughly rinse off your mascara wand every now and then, too.

Brush Up On Your Brushes

On the subject of makeup brushes, clean brushes are your best friends. You’ll be able to apply your makeup flawlessly, and they’re also better for your skin. The frequency with which you wash your brushes depends on you and how often you wear makeup. If you wear it every day, then you should wash them once a week. Otherwise, two or three times a month will do.

Next-Level Tint

Make your own tinted moisturizer with a protective twist. Using your favorite SPF moisturizer, add some of your foundation a drop at a time until you achieve the level of tint you want. That puts you in complete control of your coverage.

You also know what’s going into your moisturizer. This hack allows you to save money and protect your skin from the sun, all while wearing a perfectly tinted moisturizer. For an extra glow, include a few drops of bronzer, too.
