How To Improve Your Breakfast Smoothie

A breakfast smoothie is something that many people enjoy first thing in the morning. It’s ideal in many ways since you can add a variety of fruit and vegetables to it making it very healthy, and it’s quick and easy to prepare, meaning you can save time on a busy morning and even take it with you if you’re in a real rush.

The only problem with smoothies is that they can get a little boring after a while. Even with the wide range of ingredients you can use, eventually the taste won’t be that different from one day to the next. The good news is that, rather than ditching the smoothie altogether or simply having to make do with the dull taste, there are a number of ways you can improve your breakfast smoothie. Add Spice 

Even the most boring of smoothies can be made stunning and exciting with a pinch of spice. You can even experiment and see what works best. Cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, even black pepper, and so many more spices can all be used to take your smoothie adventure up to the next level.

You can even make special holiday-themed smoothies such as a pumpkin spice version at Halloween and a festive one at Christmas. There are around 80 main spices that you can use in cooking, so why not try them in your smoothies?


One of the issues with having a smoothie for breakfast is that it is a liquid, and when you’re having a cup of coffee too, it can be a little too filling. If you don’t have enough, however, you might be missing out on some crucial nutrients.

What if you could combine your coffee and smoothie together? It might sound like a terrible idea since you’re adding something that is ultimately not so good for you to something that should be, but when you’re using a healthy alternative to coffee, you can include this easily in a great tasting smoothie. Not only will it give you more energy, but it means that you won’t be too full to enjoy all the good things that the smoothie will give you.

Ice Cubes 

Something that many people forget about when making a breakfast smoothie is the temperature, especially if it’s to be enjoyed on the go. When a smoothie gets too warm, it can start to taste bad, and if you’ve used any kind of dairy product to bulk it out, you could even become unwell if you drink it after the temperature has risen.

To stop this from happening, and to ensure that your smoothie keeps tasting great, throw in some ice cubes. The smoothie will be much more refreshing when you do this. If you’re worried that the ice will dilute the smoothie too much, you can try reusable ice cubes instead. All you need to do is take them from the freezer to your smoothie cup, then rinse everything off and start again, ready for the next day.
