4 Adidas Tops To Keep You Warm When Exercising Outside

As the colder weather draws in (and boy has it been cold this week, right?) it can be really tricky to know what to wear when exercising outside. You’re absolutely freezing when you first leave the house, however by the time you’ve completed your warm up, you’re sweating buckets and full on regretting your decision to wear the thermal leggings. And you want to look decent too. I mean, we can all give it the whole it doesn’t matter what I look like when I’m exercising thing, but deep down we all want to be kitted out in bang on trend women’s tracksuits and hella smart hoodies.

For me, this transitional period of cold mornings and sunny afternoons is all about getting the layers right. I want to be super snug before I exercise, have the capacity to take something off midway through, then put it back on afterwards when I start to cool down. Fortunately, as an adidas blogger I’ve been able to take my pick from their range of hoodies and track tops that I’m hoping will see me through the chilly seasons. And before you go giving it all, ‘well, it’s OK for her being sent stuff”, I’ve managed to wangle you a lovely discount code that I’ll share at the bottom of this post. Keep on reading for all the deets…

Floral Piping Woven Track Top

One of the things I absolutely love about the adidas brand is how it manages to look retro and modern at the same time. It holds certain nostalgic memories for me, of being a teen, getting my first three stripes, and wishing I could be cool enough to pull off an adidas trackie jacket with my baggy low rise jeans and crop top. Well, teen me, guess what, I’ve finally got you the jacket you wanted and this one comes with added style points too.

The jacket is made from 100% recycled nylon and has a two way zip, which means you can zip it up and then unzip it from the bottom to give it a different look as well as making it less restrictive around the waist and hips if you prefer a looser cut. Perfect for wearing over a short or long-sleeved top, it gives an additional protective layer when exercising outside.

Not gonna lie, it is slightly reminiscent of shell suits, but rumour has it that is so ‘in’ right now so I’m totally going with it. Classic black with white three stripes, but edged with a narrow floral piping, it is a fine example of retro meets modern, and I blinking love it!

Fleece Full-Zip Hoodie

I think I might actually be the coolest mum out there right now. Because, aside from looking like the mutts nuts in my new adidas tops, I told my daughter she could choose one too. And let me tell you, this made her day/her month/her year, as she has been banging on about wanting a grey zip up hoodie for ages. Plus, the fact that it’s an adidas hoodie means I’ve scored even more mum points, and you’ve got to take those mum points whenever you can as they get older, let me tell you!

She went for the Medium Grey Heather hoodie, but it is also available in Black, White, Almost Blue, and Purple. At 12 years, she’s just hitting the point of fitting into women’s clothing, so we went for an XS which fits her perfectly. If anything, she probably would have preferred it to be slightly baggier, apparently that’s the trend at the moment, but I think it’s just right. The sleeves sit at a point she can bury her hands in them if she wants and it looks great both zipped and unzipped. It’s funny, because just like 90s teen me, she also wants to wear baggy jeans, a crop top and a zip up adidas hoodie – if only I’d kept some of my old clothes!

The hoodie is lovely and soft and has a fleece layer inside to make it even more cosy. It’s made from 80% cotton (adidas supports the Better Cotton Initiative, which is the largest cotton sustainability programme in the world) and 20% recycled polyester fleece, so it ticks a lot of those eco boxes, which is an important factor to teens these days. The draw cord hood and ribbed cuffs and hem add to the cosiness levels, as do the lovely deep pockets. My daughter loves it and has been practically living in it since I gave it to her. And I love it, because as with most adidas clothing, it washes really well and can go in the tumble drier – amen to that!

Times are hard at the moment, and finding the money to kit your teens out in all the latest fashions can put a strain on the finances. Hunting around for Fantastic Voucher Codes can really help save a bit of money as well as keeping your teenager happy, which let’s face it isn’t always the easiest task!

adidas x Marimekko Hoodie

Marimekko is a Finnish design house founded in 1951. Known for its bold batiste style prints, it has come to represent positivity and personal empowerment. How could I not get this hoodie!?! I’ve chosen the white with black stripes design, but it also comes in Pearl Citrine – a kind of lemon yellow with white stripes and more of a pastel Marimekko print.

My idea of the perfect hoodie is loose fitting, slouchy, must have pockets (because pockets are life), obviously it has to have a hood (it is a hoodie after all) and it needs to look good. This one fits all of the key criteria. Now I know what you’re thinking, a white hoodie for exercising outside in… not the brightest idea, right? You’re right, it’s not, white most definitely is not a practical colour for exercising outside, especially in wet, muddy conditions. But it does make a very good warm up layer for afterwards, when you’ve finished your run, you want to have a quick coffee with your running mates in the cafe afterwards, but you’re starting to get cold and shivery. Shove this beaut in your run pack or your car and you’ll be looking as fresh as a Marimekko daisy in no time.

I went one size up from my usual size, as I want there to be lots of extra room if I’m wearing other layers beneath it. This hoodie is all about feeling comfortable, relaxed, and snuggly. It’s the rewarding hug you get at the end of a cold workout or wet run. A nod to female empowerment, a reminder that you are stronger than you think, that you are capable of many things, and that you are as awesome as this hoodie.

Hyperglam Hooded Track Top

Come rain or shine, I personally don’t think there is anything better than exercising outside. As someone famous once said, there’s no such thing as bad weather, only unsuitable clothing. And it’s true. If it rains, we get wet. If it snows or is frosty, we get cold. If it’s windy, we get a little bit windswept. It’s inconvenient sure, but it’s certainly not an excuse to stop exercising outside over the autumn and winter months.

This Hyperglam Hooded Track Top is perfect for outdoor pursuits and I’ll tell you why:

  • Elasticated Hems on the sleeves and waist mean there are no gaps for cold air and rain to get into.
  • AEROREADY fabric offers moisture-absorbing qualities.
  • Hood with adjustable draw cord to keep the elements out and keep your hair looking vaguely decent.
  • Mesh Lining to allow air to circulate and increase ventilation so you can cool down and get rid of sweat more quickly.
  • Front Zipped Pockets are perfect for stashing all your run/workout essentials and keeping them from getting wet.

I went with the Black/Almost Blue/Purple colourway, but you can also get it in Purple Glow/Bliss Orange/Chalk White. For practical reasons I wouldn’t usually go for a track top that doesn’t have a full length zip, but actually the zip on this goes down just far enough to be able to get it off and over your head with ease. The loose fit is comfortable and makes it a very versatile item of clothing when exercising outside.

So then… that discount code I mentioned…

* * DISCOUNT CODE ALERT **

I don’t know about you lot, but this year more than ever I fully intend to take advantage of as many discounts as I can find. What with Christmas rapidly approaching and my kids being at that age where brand names are the only clothes they’ll wear, this adidas discount code could not have come at a better time.

If you quote the code Art20 at point of checkout on the adidas app you can bag yourself a cheeky 20% discount.

There are a few T&C’s – you must live in the UK, some products may be exempt (usually stuff already in the sale), and like I said you can only use it on the app rather than the adidas website. Here’s a link to the adidas app – https://go.adidas.com/ihha/bloggerprogram – or you can do a quick search on the iOS and Google app stores. It’s totally free and makes the shopping process super easy, plus so worth it to get that 20% discount.

The code is valid from now right up until the 31st of December 2022, but when it’s gone, it’s gone, so make sure you take advantage of it to get those savings.

Remember – use code Art20 and get yourself a 20% discount on the adidas app store.
