8 Ways To Treat Yourself Like A Queen

Daily life can get hard, and it usually does. But hey, you’re here, still breathing and fighting! Go you! Since no one really gives you any gold stars for your achievements, why not take the matter into your own hands? Help a girl out – yourself, that is – and treat her like a queen. Well deserved!

Here’s how you can do it.

Take Time For Yourself

This is sometimes difficult, especially if your calendar is filled with to-do lists, errands, social gatherings and taking care of your home. But here’s the catch: if you cannot take an hour for yourself, it means that you absolutely have to take an hour for yourself. Because not having an hour for yourself means you’re stretching out too thin and something is bound to burst soon. Close the door, close all social media websites, turn off your phone.

Breathe.

Sing along with your favourite singer.

Revise your to-do lists.

Cancel one meeting.

Take a shower.

Sometimes even a glass of water can help.

Clear your mind.

And then move on, ready to take on the world. Be mindful of taking these breaks whenever you’re feeling like you can’t do it all – they really help put things in perspective, leaving you a bit less anxious and a bit more confident.

Have Breakfast In Bed

Logistically speaking, this can be a bit burdensome if you live alone, but if you prepare overnight oats the evening before, brew some coffee and grab some juice with no added sugar – that’s it, good enough for a Sunday morning in bed. You can indulge in the healthy breakfast, magazines you like, scrolling through your favourite social media, or just any reality TV you wouldn’t normally admit to watching.

Treat Yourself To A Day In The Spa/Salon (Or Both)

Yes, of course you do your best to cleanse, tone, moisturise… every day. But sometimes it does feel like a chore, doesn’t it? Allocate a Saturday where your only job will be to sit still while having a face cleanse, massage, blowout, mani, pedi, foot massage…

Since there are so many salons and it can seem difficult to choose, just make sure you’re visiting accredited beauticians who have beauty courses under their belts. That’s your guarantee you won’t end up looking and feeling worse than before you came in.

Create A Daily Ritual You Will Look Forward To

For some, it is the first morning coffee. Others anticipate their daily runs after work, or a bath before bed. Find something that leaves you feeling accomplished and/or relaxed. It doesn’t have to be big and maybe you’re doing it already. Just be aware of it and think of it as your special daily ritual – that way you’ll definitely be hitting a good mood when it gets closer, and especially after it’s been done!

Have A Royal Bath

Even though it would be really nice if you had a bathtub, it’s not necessary for a royal bath. What is a royal bath then, you ask? It’s a shower, or a bath, where you will be using only the best products. Cleanse with oil, scrub your whole body, then moisturize, and don’t think you can overdo it. You’re not a royal every day, after all – splatter that extra cream to feel like a true queen.

Turn To Flowers

Blooms and bouquets definitely brighten every desk they are on! Choose your favourite flowers and take their smell into account for a lovely touch as soon as you enter the room. Plus, it’s not just their looks and smell: it has been proven that blooms have a positive impact on mental health by reducing anxiety and increasing happiness. Now, who wouldn’t need that?!

Upgrade Your Bedroom

There’s no need for retail therapy when it comes to bedding – but if you’re in the mood for that, why not? Choose light colours and natural fibres. Dust your bedside tables, clear them of clutter and light a candle of your choice. Slipping between the sheets of a comfy Pinterest-worthy bed is the first step of the total relaxation you will be achieving before waking up the day after, feeling the need to say “Hello, sunshine!”

Cut Yourself Some Slack

Believe it or not, you don’t have to be perfect, and you don’t even have to try. There is no such thing. Of course you know it though, you just think you are the person, if anyone else, who can achieve perfection.

Well, stop.

It’s okay to sometimes eat chocolate for breakfast (but not every day). It’s okay to miss a deadline. Apologise, see if you can make things right, and move on. It’s okay to not be liked by everyone.

Relax – it will be okay.

You’re doing fine.

Sometimes you just need to give yourself a pat on the back, and no one else will do it for you. Or a self-high-five. Looks silly, but it works. After all, when have the queens worried about how silly they look?
