Bucks Fizz Flapjacks

Christmas day starts for me with a lovely cold glass of Bucks Fizz…well once I’ve peeled my eyes open at ridiculous-o’clock and shoved a cup of coffee down my neck…and so to carry on with our festive themed #FlapjackFriday I wanted to inject a bit of fizz into this weeks Bucks Fizz Flapjacks recipe.

Yep, let me present to you these delicious orange flapjacks topped with mixed peel and popping candy. Guaranteed to set your tastebuds whirring, these are fun, flavoursome and full on festive fizzy!

What’s In Bucks Fizz Flapjacks?

  • 500g Porridge Oats
  • 250g Unsalted Butter
  • 200ml Honey
  • Zest and Juice of 1 Orange
  • Popping Candy and Mixed Peel to decorate

How Do I Make Bucks Fizz Flapjacks?

Melt the butter in a saucepan and stir in the honey, orange zest and orange juice.

Remove from the heat and mix in the porridge oats until everything is well combined.

Pour the oaty mixture into a greased shallow baking tin and bake in a moderate oven for approximately 25 minutes or until the top has turned golden brown.

Remove from the oven and score out 16 flapjacks with a sharp knife.

Leave to completely cool in the tin.

Decorate with mixed peel and popping candy.

TOP TIP – Wait until the flapjacks are well and truly cooled before adding the popping candy otherwise it will pop as soon as it touches the surface.
