Exciting Genetic Health Testing News

Close up of the arms of a patient and doctor taking blood pressure results - health and genetic testing

A new genetic health testing company that focuses on preventing life altering medical conditions has recently launched in the UK. Qlu Health offers cancer, cardiac, nutrition and gut testing to spot any apparent problems that may arise in future, rather than reacting to them once symptoms have already started.

Launched by Shamshad Ahmed, who is founder of Smart Cells International LTD the UK’s first private stem cell banking company, Qlu Health works with several leading global laboratories and researchers to provide their customers with comprehensive genetic testing health reports.

The company aims to offer a new and improved option for genetic testing, as this area of health remains a cause for concern for many people. In the past, some tests have produced results with little to no clinical utility, poor client data policies including the selling or brokering of data and samples, incomplete testing, no qualified follow ups and many other problems.

In contrast, Qlu Health pride themselves on offering a service that is convenient, simple and always confidential. There is a high level of clinical utility, science you can trust in and options for high quality clinical support afterwards, plus they guarantee any data and samples they receive will never be sold on. You might be reading this and thinking something that sounds this great is going to be costly, however it is incredibly affordable considering the results and the service you receive. Options start at £250 for a personalised and easy to understand report. But it doesn’t just end there, once you’ve received your results a team of highly trained clinical staff are available to help advise you on the best steps to take afterwards as well as helping you to follow up on your health plan.

What Can It Test For?

There are currently four different genetic health testing options available at Qlu health:

  • Cancer
  • Cardiac
  • Nutrition
  • Gut health

The genetic analysis provided in these reports includes everything from nutrient metabolism, food intolerances and helpful suggestions for weight management and body composition, through to analysing 32 markers associated with different kinds of cancer, 6 out of 9 of the risk factors for cardio health, as well as the gut microbiota associated with conditions such as inflammatory bowel disease, Crohn’s disease, diabetes and others.

Information Is The Key To Improved Health

According to the World Health Organisation, 80% of the cases of premature heart disease, stroke and diabetes can be prevented through awareness and making some simple lifestyle changes. In addition to this, while 5-10% of cancers are hereditary, a massive 42% of all UK cancer cases are indeed preventable.

Even fitness and nutrition testing can make a huge impact. By ensuring people are on genetically appropriate diets, like those suggested by Qlu Health’s NutriQlu testing, it can see people losing on average of up to 5.3% more weight than those who are on the wrong diet.

And finally a word from co-founder of Qlu Health, Shamshad Ahmed:

“Qlu is on a mission to improve the health of people around the world through the power of genetics. We believe that by offering affordable tests and never ending support, we can help individuals prevent and reverse a wide array of illnesses.”
