If you consider yourself a foodie, you’ve likely tried a wide variety of different foods. After all, that’s half the fun of being a foodie; getting to try new things and experiencing them for the first time.
Of course, sometimes you will be adventurous and try something that ends up being a failure, but other times, you will discover a new favorite. There are a few classic dishes that you need to try if you are a foodie. These combine great tastes with amazing textures, and even if you don’t end up liking it, you can tick it off your bucket list.
Wagyu Steak
Most foodies (except those who are vegan or vegetarian) have had steak many times in their life. And if you’re one of them, you’ve probably had some incredible and memorable steaks.
But if you haven’t had a Wagyu steak, you’re missing out. This steak has grown in popularity over the past few years because while it is pricey, most people would agree that it is absolutely worth it.
In fact, many people claim that Wagyu steak is the best steak in the world. Of course, you’ll need to try it yourself to see whether that’s true or not. Next time you’re in the mood to treat yourself, buy a Wagyu flank steak.
Oysters
Even foodies sometimes avoid certain foods, such as oysters. Many people think that they are gross, and they get put off by the texture.
While it is true that oysters are an acquired taste and not everyone will like them, most foodies would agree that you need to at least try something before dismissing it. It also helps that oysters are one of the healthiest types of seafood.
Luckily, most restaurants that have oysters on their menu sell them individually, so you only need to try one – if you don’t like it, at least you’ll know.
Poutine
Poutine is a classic Canadian dish that is especially popular in the province of Quebec. It’s quite simple – French fries topped with cheese curds and gravy – and yet it is a favorite dish for many people.
The key to good poutine is having high-quality ingredients. While this dish may not sound extraordinary, it is such a well-known comfort food that you need to have it at least once in your life. If possible, have it in Quebec.
However, that is not a possibility for everyone, so you can make your own poutine or look up restaurants that offer it.
Tiramisu
Of course, we had to include a dessert on here. Picking just one is hard because there are so many good desserts out there, but Tiramisu is a foodie favorite, and for good reason.
There’s something about the way the flavors and textures in Tiramisu combine that truly makes it a dessert that has everything a foodie could possibly dream of. It also helps that it is versatile – if you’re not a fan of coffee, use hot chocolate instead. You can also play around with different biscuits for the base.
