I am not a beauty blogger. I am rubbish at applying make up. I have eyeliner pencils that are probably older than my kids sat festering at the bottom of my make up bag. The very thought of having anything near as luxurious as a gel eyeliner or a set of false lashes in my kit is quite frankly laughable.
Day to day I wear a bit of concealer to try and cover up my hormonal spots and some pressed powder to deal with the grease. I’m blessed with long dark eyelashes and so I tend to save mascara and other eye make up for nights out only. As you can see I’m about as basic and low maintenance as a girl can be. But every so often, I suddenly get the urge to dabble with make up again to see if somehow I’ve miraculously developed application skills overnight… which of course I HAVE NOT!
I need what make up I do use to be easy to apply, relatively cheap and to make me look as though I’m naturally beautiful. OK, OK don’t have a go at me, I know us girls don’t need make up to be beautiful, but sometimes it’s nice to highlight our best bits, right?!? And for me it’s my eyes.
Like I said, I have fab lashes, so it kinda feels like I’m already winning a bit on that front and it seems only sensible to make them the stars of the show. However, eyeliner and me just do not get on. I’ve tried it in the past, both pencils and liquid liner, but both haven’t been great and have often resulted in me either looking like some drug ravaged Cleopatra or like someone who’s just gone ten rounds with Ricky Hatton.
The Esqido Gel Eyeliner Pencil was made for people like me. It’s ridiculously easy to apply, super soft and there’s none of this dragging effect that can happen with a standard pencil. Plus being about as far removed from a make up expert as you can possibly get, I found it so much easier than liquid eyeliner because you don’t need as steady a hand to apply it and you can rub it in and pretend you totally meant it to look like that if you do make a slight mistake. Available in black and brown, the Esqido Gel Eyeliner is both water and smudge proof, which means it lasts all day. And I know heaps of eyeliner brands profess to being capable of lasting all day, but this one really does. I put it on in the morning, did the school run, rubbed my eyes from staring at a laptop all day, and then went for a run in the rain at night and it was still there when I looked in the mirror before getting in the shower. Can’t really argue with that can you?
On top of all that the eyeliner is cruelty-free (always a winner) and doesn’t contain any of the usual nasty chemicals that can often be present in make up, such as formaldehyde, parabens and BHT (Butylated hydroxytoluene). But possibly my favourite thing about this eyeliner is the absolutely genius pencil sharpener that is hidden away at the end of the pencil that I only discovered by reading the info on their website. It literally looks like it is just the end of the pencil, but if you pull it off lo and behold there’s a nifty little sharpener stashed in there.
This pencil is basically brilliant if indeed you are a make up novice like me or if you need to apply something in a bit of a hurry again like me and all the other school run mums out there trying to look as though they’ve got their shit together!
The eyeliners can be bought from the Esqido website as either a 1 pack or at a reduced price for a 2 pack to help save you a bit of money plus also means you’ll have a back up for when the first one runs out.
