Strawberry Chia Jam

If you’re worried about the amount of sugar you consume and would like to cut down without removing some of the sweet taste that you love, then this strawberry chia jam is for you.

Shop bought jam is absolutely riddled with sugar and even if you make your own at home, often the recipes include a ridiculous amount of the white stuff. This jam recipe uses chia seeds to help get that sticky jam consistency and best of all it only takes 10 minutes tops to make!

What’s In Strawberry Chia Jam?

  • 6 Strawberries
  • 2 Tbsp Chia Seeds
  • 1 Tbsp Coconut Sugar
  • 6 Tbsp Water

How Do I Make Strawberry Chia Jam?

Blitz the strawberries in a food processor or, if you prefer your jam a little chunky, chop them by hand and then mash with a potato masher. Put all the ingredients into a saucepan and heat gently for approximately 5 minutes or until you have something that looks like jam.

Chia seeds are hungry little blighters, so if you think you need to add a bit more water, do it a teaspoon at a time. Remember to stir continuously to prevent the jam from burning.

I enjoy my strawberry chia jam on porridge, in smoothies, on rice cakes and as a topping for flapjacks (check out my #FlapjackFriday recipe tomorrow!)
