Step Back in Time: My Teenage Diary Saturday 2nd April – Friday 8th April 1994

According to my teenage diary, this week in 1994 was boring, my face was greasy, and I had my period…. sounds like not much has changed! Thankfully I no longer use the word “horny”, I don’t wear denim skirts and frilly shirts, and most importantly of all I don’t swan around listening to Enigma thinking I’m some kind of spiritual hippy.

Hope you enjoy this week’s extracts from my 1994 teenage diary 🙂

Saturday 2nd April

We visited Damian and Trisha’s first which was totally boring, I mean I get fed up of hearing about how well Elspeth’s getting on and how nice her car is. If I was taking driving lessons nobody would be interested. Then we went round to Gloria and Seamus’s, which can be a chore in itself because Ramona always wants to play with me. This time she decided we should make ear rings which I suppose wasn’t that bad considering. We then went round to Grandma and Grandad’s, which was OK. We went to a Chinese restaurant in the evening with Karen and Grandad. I wore my denim mini skirt and white frilly shirt. The owner gave all us ladies a rose, ahhhhh.

Sunday 3rd April

I’ve decided I’m going to phone up some jewelers in Swindon and book an appointment to have my ear pierced at the top on Thursday. For a while I went off the idea, but now I really do want it done. I got the answers for the Live and Kicking competition so I’ll send that off tomorrow and I’ve also entered a competition in The Sun where you can win a pair of tickets and meet Take That. There’s 25 pairs of tickets so I’ve got a slightly bigger chance of winning. Went ten pin bowling and I suppose it was OK, but we played two games so it got a bit boring at the end. There was an arcade and I beat A at Street Fighter II. CHAMPION!

Monday 4th April

I went down the shop to do my paper round at the usual time only to find that the place was in darkness, but he must have been there because his van was parked outside. Anyway, I waited about twenty minutes and then went back home. So I phoned him up and told him I’d been ill over the weekend and wouldn’t be able to do it. I’m such a liar, but it’s his fault he didn’t tell me he was opening the shop at a later time. I hope all the 2nd CDs haven’t sold out because they’re limited editions. I only want it because it’s got an interview on it and I’ll be able to hear Mark’s voice when I want to.

Tuesday 5th April

Got the CD today and the interview on it is really quite funny. Mark’s laugh is just the business. It’s too hard to describe, but the nearest two words are bubbly and infective. The thing is they’ve got jokes between them so anyone from outside their little bonding doesn’t actually have a clue what on earth they’re going on about. I’m debating whether or not to write a letter but I doubt whether I will because I know they won’t reply, especially now that they’re not even in the country at the moment so I think I’d just be wasting my money if I bought stamps. I’m hoping for some mail soon because I not only wrote to Tony in America, but also Matt Owen who was in Mizz magazine. He was horny!

Wednesday 6th April

We went into Swindon and both me and Sheila had the top of our ears pierced. It cost £9.95 and I had it done with a silver stud. We then went into Argos and bought 3 pairs of ear rings which we had one of each. I must admit it did hurt more than I thought it would, but I just can’t wait until 6 weeks is up because I want to wear a hooped ear ring. I’m going to buy some hoops to wear down the bottom as well. Mum bought me some dungarees, a top, and some Doc Marten shoes for school. My bike has got something wrong with it meaning I have to walk my paper round, which takes almost twice as long and thrice as boring.

Thursday 7th April

Went into Chippenham so that I could buy a pair of silver hoops to wear at the bottom of my ears. It looks really good. I’m going to tie my hair up when I go back to school so that everybody can see. It makes me feel so much more confident. I also bought the Enigma album and Mum bought me a new bag for school and it’s really nice. I started my sculpture for Art today and it’s really rubbish, but I’m not going to throw it away because I just can’t be bothered to start all over again. Mind you to be quite honest I don’t know what I’d do if I did start again. I also finished my modernized drawing for 2D Art. I’ve now got English coursework, Art sculpture coursework and French to do in 3 days.

Friday 8th April

They showed how many entries there were in the Take That Live and Kicking competition and I’m sorry but I haven’t got a chance in a million, there’s absolutely no way I’ll win. So I’ll have to face tomorrow knowing that someone else will be getting to see them. I made my hair straight and tied it back and I suppose it looks OK so now and again I’ll wear it like that for school so that everybody can see my ear ring. My face was really greasy today, you should have seen the shine on it, it was awful. Maybe it’s because I’ve got my period I don’t know, but I think I’ll have to start using face powder to stop it from shining because it feels uncomfortable as well.

Tune in next week for more 1994 action teenage diary fans!
